What The Sunflowers Know

A sunflower should not grow through compacted road sub-base overnight. Civil engineer Olena Marchenko knows that before anyone tries to explain it to her.

When impossible flowers begin appearing across a Kent development and a missing young Ukrainian man becomes part of the pattern, Olena is pulled towards The Quiet Service’s world of folklore, memory and things that resist convenient explanations.

But she has seen what happens when people turn suffering into stories, and she has no intention of letting flowers absolve anyone of human responsibility.
